The inclement weather policy impacts games and practices in the event of inclement weather. Inclement weather is defined as rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and their watches or warnings as issued by the National Weather Service.
Rain - Practices and games can still be conducted as scheduled as long as it is just rain. Cancelling and rescheduling of practices will be up to the coach and their tolerance for the amount of rain, taking into consideration the outside temperature and condition of the field. If games are not cancelled by the Grandville AYSO Board, two coaches may agree to cancel a game.
Rescheduling of the game is the responsibility of the two coaches. The Coach Administrator and Referee Administrator must be contacted for rescheduling.
Thunderstorms - Games and practices are postponed due to thunder and/or lightning and cannot resume until 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning. Players, coaches, referees, and fans must vacate the fields immediately and seek shelter. Games may resume after the 30 minute wait period, however, coaches must take into consideration that games are played every 1.5 hours, and delaying the next game is not permissible. Games will be considered complete if at least one half of the game has been played.
Make-ups are the responsibility of the two coaches for date and time. The Coach Administrator and Referee Administrator must be contacted for rescheduling.
Tornadoes – Games and practices are cancelled if there is either a Tornado Watch or Tornado Warning. They cannot resume until 30 minutes after the cancellation of the watch or warning by the National Weather Service. If games or practices are in progress when the watch or warning is issued, players, coaches, referees, and fans must vacate the field immediately and seek shelter.
Cancellation of games or practices by the Board due to weather or other circumstances will be posted by email to each coach.
